I agree with all of your observations on Good/Bad/Excuses, however I would add a couple:
Under Good I would add the ability to Listen. The skill of listening is the only communication skill that is not taught in schools. Crazy!!
" People listen to what you DO, not what you say"
Under bad, I would mention, Procrastination. This is different from mind changing. Procrastination puts undue pressure on the whole team.Be assertive and be brave!
Finally if in doubt on how to proceed with a difficult message or communication problem with your team members, reflect on the old addage:-
" Act as you would like others to treat you"

For me its always been about conversion. If you are driving traffic that doesn't convert you are wasting your time. Everything should boil down to the bottom line. All recommendations and actions taken should be performed to improve ROI.

Enter what I call “SEO 2.0.” You will no longer be optimizing YOUR site for search, but rather optimizing THE WEB for searches you want to win. You will need to establish sufficient “outposts” in the form of blogs, content communities (YouTube, Flickr, SlideShare, etc.), social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter), all doing your SEO bidding for you, and driving traffic back to your home base, or Web site (in many cases). The more of these outposts you employ to win coveted search results, the more you will be gaining a share of the voice away from your competitors. Without them, your competition can have at it. The more content you own, the more searches you can win. When someone does a search for your company name, your site and its various outposts should own the entire first page. The same efforts and objectives should be applied to searches on keywords relevant to your industry.

Search is still the center of the Web universe. That is where questions get answers, goods and services get found, and companies establish foothold. SEO isn’t any less important, in my opinion…it’s just changing.

We tackle this problem by:

1) Using servers based in the country they are checking results for

2) Collecting CTR data on universal/blended results to investigate potential click-share

3) Not using personsalised search (as it's still way, way in the minority and your default signed in results should be the same)

4) Keyword targeting based on revenue value (conversion / opporunity / current ranking).

Out of interest, what 4 studies did your CTR data come from? (Publishing soon) looks quite different.

If this became a problem, whereby Google achieved it's aims of providing "instant answers", I imagine most webmasters will just block Googlebot.

I hate Itunes, if you are not careful it can through your music and start rearranging your folders and converting the file format of your mp3's. This can be resolved by going into the advanced options and unticking these options. If your like me and hat Itunes then there are alternatives but unfortunately will not work with all the mac mobile devices especially the Iphone and Itouch

Anyway you may want to try winamp http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.winamp.com/
or media monkey

Hey Mark, done some buying in the past, with no, absolutely provable results. But no negative results either. So, when they were talking about $mm sums and asking for my say as part of that biz case, I could honestly confirm any value.

If you are able to share or have written up, very happy to link to you or if you could share with me personally.

Yep, DSullivan prompted me as this happened to me last week. And now fully referenced up above.

Have you done any testing on this at all or is this a repeat of Danny's post? http://searchengineland.com/do-links-from-expired-domains-count-with-google-17811

I ask because despite what Matt said, I've had great success with expired domains.

If the case was SEO, how would you seperate different activity to prove the ROI of each?

E.g. Onsite SEO vs Link building

How do you calculate the risk of blackhat SEO?
